New NHS dental practice to open in Aylesbury
Aylesbury residents are set to benefit from a new NHS dental practice that will open at Elmhurst Health Centre, Elmhurst Road, in September 2010. This is among a number of improvements being made to primary care in Buckinghamshire, including the development of Chesham Healthzone and refurbishment of the Mandeville Practice in Aylesbury.
Although a recent survey showed that 90% of people in Buckinghamshire are satisfied with NHS dental services, patient feedback also revealed that there was a need to increase access to NHS dentists in Aylesbury.
As part of plans to extend the availability of NHS dentists to 65,000 more patients across the county, NHS Buckinghamshire awarded a contract to Aspire Dental Group to provide dental services from the Elmhurst Health Centre.
The Health Centre, which also hosts the Elmhurst Surgery that delivers nurse-led Walk-in Clinics, and nursing appointments is being fully refurbished to ensure that NHS dental patients and GP patients receive a high quality service.

The new service is part of our investment programme in NHS dental care, and is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver the right care, in the right place and at the right time.”
The new service will offer patients a choice of appointment time, including evening and weekend appointment availability.

Saturday 9.00am – 2.00pm

GP Surgery Refurbishment Improves Patient Care
Aylesbury patients are already benefitting from a revamp of a doctor’s surgery. The Mandeville Practice, which also runs Elmhurst Surgery, has completely refurbished their Mandeville GP Surgery based on Hannon Road.
Elmhurst residents, as well as those living in Mandeville, are able to access improved services thanks to extensive redevelopment.
Pam McGowan added: “The full refurbishment of the Mandeville Surgery means that there’s an improved patient environment, and we’re now able to offer extended services. We have increased existing consulting rooms and created two new rooms, as well as adding a second waiting room.”
Paediatric Walk in Clinics are now available at the Mandeville Surgery every afternoon, Monday – Friday, 3.30pm – 4.00pm, and a specialist phlebotomy room (where blood can be taken) has been added.
